2015: Steps to End Domestic Violence
(formerly Women Helping Battered Women)

Steps to End Domestic Violence, formerly called Women Helpind Battered Women, believes that all adults and children have the right to live without fear of physical, emotional, sexual or financial abuse. 2014: The Vermont Ibutwa Initiative

2013: Visiting Nurse Association: "Family Room Preschool Program"
The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is a nationally recognized leader in preventing homelessness, violence, and adverse health conditions in Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties for 106 years. The VNA used the FIWF $10,000 grant for their Family Room Preschool Program with the intent of increasing school readiness and decreasing child abuse for at-risk children. Check out their website!
2012: Boys and Girls Club of Burlington: “EARLY PROMISE PROGRAM”

Early Promise: Bridge to a Better Future is a program of year round social and academic support that aims to close the marked achievement gap that exists for the Club’s low-income and racially diverse youth membership. The program guarantees college admission and financial support for low income students if those club members commit to and complete a series of social and academic requirements. The 2012 grant was used to support this program, furthering the contractual relationship between parents/guardians, the Club and the Vermont State Colleges designed to give children a better future. 2011: Committee on Temporary Shelter: “Bridge Back into Housing”

COTS is driven by their belief that housing is a fundamental human right and that emergency shelter is not the solution to homelessness. FIWF provided funding for their program, “Bridge Back into Housing,” in which 10 apartments were leased in an effort to end homelessness and work towards sustainable change. After an initial “screening” period in an emergency shelter, COTS selects families who are on track with savings and employment to move into these apartments. Check out their website!
2010: Spectrum: “Youth and Family Program”

Spectrum is a nationally recognized leader in homeless youth programs that has been offering shelter to Vermont's homeless and at-risk youth for 41 years. Their goal is to transform lives by empowering teenagers, young adults, people with a history of violence, and their families to make and sustain positive changes through prevention, intervention, and life skills services. Spectrum used the FIWF $10,000 grant to turn an office space into an additional room for their clients. This allowed them to increase the availability of their services, furthering their long-term commitment to social change. Check out their website!
